Located in the heart of Northeast Iowa, Chickasaw County is a vibrant rural community where tradition, innovation, and hometown pride come together. Established in 1851 and named after the Chickasaw people, the county spans more than 500 square miles and is home to approximately 11,700 residents. The county seat, New Hampton, sits at the geographic center of the county, making it a natural hub for business, recreation, and community life.
Chickasaw County is made up of nine welcoming communities—Alta Vista, Bassett, Fredericksburg, Ionia, Lawler, Nashua, New Hampton, North Washington, and Protivin—each offering its own unique character while sharing a strong sense of community.
